We’re a friendly and inclusive community band, and we welcome new members of all ages and abilities.

Whether you’re developing your playing, returning after a break or already an experienced player, there’s a place for you at Generation Groove. If you're completely new to playing, we'd still love to hear from you.

Our bands support musicians at different stages of their musical journey:

• Academy Band – for beginners (currently welcoming expressions of interest)

• New Generation – for developing players

• Getting in the Groove – for intermediate musicians

• Generation Groove – our senior band

If you’re not sure which band is right for you, we’ll help you find the best fit.

As a member of Generation Groove, you can expect:

• weekly rehearsals in a supportive environment

• opportunities to perform in concerts and community events

• a wide and enjoyable range of music

• support from experienced musicians and musical directors

·         a welcoming community where everyone is valued

We welcome:

• brass, woodwind, bass guitar and percussion players

• adults and young people

• complete beginners through to advanced musicians

Academy Band is designed for people who are new to their instrument and want to develop their confidence playing as part of a group.

Academy Band is not currently rehearsing, but we welcome expressions of interest from beginners. If you’re interested in starting out with Generation Groove, please get in touch.

We also support players progressing through the bands as their confidence and skills grow.

Our free Junior Groovers programme gives children the opportunity to learn an instrument and make music together as a band from the beginning.

Places in our senior band (Generation Groove) are limited and offered in consultation with our Principal Musical Director, to ensure the right balance across the band.

The best way to get a feel for Generation Groove is to come along to a rehearsal.

You’re very welcome to visit, listen or join in — just get in touch beforehand and we’ll arrange the best rehearsal for you to visit.
